Children and Youth

Register HERE for children and youth events at All Saints'.

Visitors and friends are always welcome to participate in our children’s ministry programs!

Our Godly Play class is held between the two Sunday morning services, so all can join in—in person in the classroom from 9 AM to 10 AM.

Children are welcomed and encouraged to participate fully in our worship services, but options are available if the child or parent prefers.

Our nursery is available for infants and toddlers during both Sunday services.

Children’s Chapel is for preschool and grade school children, and is held at the beginning of the 10:15 service, meeting downstairs in the multi-purpose room.

Youth in 4th grade or older are encouraged to serve as acolytes or readers.

Sunday School

9:00 to 10:00 AM Sundays, September through mid-June. All Saints’ offers classes for children and youth, preschool through high school age. Our preschool and elementary students use Godly Play, a Montessori-based program of spiritual formation. Our middle and high school students form the Sunday-morning Youth class. The Youth Group meets monthly for service projects and fun. Visitors and friends are always welcome!

More about Godly Play:

Our preschool and elementary students use Godly Play. The goal of Godly Play is to provide an environment that fosters discovery learning in which children feel safe and welcomed; where they can learn the art of using religious language to encounter the elusive mystery of God and to use that language to find meaning in their lives.

Godly Play is not play time. It uses religious language to tell the stories of the people of God. It creates sacred space for children, where they can build a community. It gives children the materials and the time to work on their own issues and to come close to God. It lets them discover the “answers” for themselves, rather than having an adult tell them. Godly Play also acknowledges that children already have a spiritual life.

“There was once someone who so understood the heart of the child, that they became a child and dwelt among us.”

The Godly Play lesson follows the pattern of worship.

Our classes run like this:

9:00 to 9:05: Gather and get ready.

9:05 to 9:20: Story and wondering time.

9:20 to 9:50: Response time and work time.

9:50 to 10:00: Prayer time and Feast

10:00: Dismissal from the classroom

If your child has not yet tried Godly Play, they are welcome to join in any Sunday! Parents are welcome to stay and experience Godly Play as well.

More about Youth: Our Youth class (6th grade through 12th grade) meets in the loft from 9am to 10am on Sunday mornings. This year they will be learning about a variety of topics in 6-week sessions. Follow us on Facebook or sign up for the newsletter to get more information on upcoming youth events.

Nursery

Our nursery is downstairs in the Education Hall and is open for young children, ages birth to 3-4yrs, during both Sunday morning services, the 9am education hour, and some special events. It is staffed by one or more professional caregivers and is filled with all kinds of exciting, age appropriate activities. There is a comfortable chair for nursing, a portable crib for napping, and a changing table. Silent pagers are available for parents to carry during worship, so we can let you know if your child needs you.

Children’s Chapel

Our STAR Time/Children’s Chapel is available during the first part of the 10:15 worship service on Sundays. This is a child-friendly Liturgy of the Word for children in preschool and elementary school, and allows time for questions and play. We meet in the multipurpose room downstairs beginning about 10:00 AM, and everyone comes upstairs during the announcement time for Communion. Please sign your child in when dropping them off to STAR Time. Thanks to all of our volunteers and new Chapel leaders for making this possible again!

Youth Group

Our Middle School and High School students meet once a month on a Sunday evening, usually 5 to 7 PM. We share dinner together, work on service projects, play games, and end with Compline. Friends are always welcome, they do need a parent-signed Medical Release form, found here

Youth have the opportunity to participate in a number of diocesan-wide retreat weekends through the year, and Camp Cross in the summer. Please contact Theresa at school@allsaintsrichland.org in the church office if you would like to know more.

Vacation Bible School

VBS is a week-long program for kids ages 4 through 6th graders, held 9 AM to noon each day for a week in summer. Each year there is a new theme and mission that focuses on God's love and presence in the world around us. Themes in past years have been "Building the Kingdom of God" with Habitat for Humanity as the mission, "Water for Life" with Between the Ridges as the mission, "Be the Light" with the purchase and donation of Luci Lights as the mission, and “Come, Holy Spirit” with Chaplaincy Healthcare as the mission.

Camp Cross
Camp Cross is our Diocesan Camp, located on the shores of Lake Coeur d’Alene in Idaho. A full schedule of youth, adult, and family camps are held from May to October each year. Housing is in heated cabins; bathhouses with hot showers are nearby, and a dining hall/gathering room is centrally located. Youth camps start for students entering 2nd grade and older. All Saints’ provides scholarship money for every youth in our parish to go to camp their first time; some scholarship money is available for returning campers as well–contact the clergy or Theresa Grate in the church office. Transportation is usually available by bus from Ritzville, or by carpooling.  More information is available by clicking
