Worship Ministries
Acolytes at All Saints’ are volunteer parishioners of all ages, (usually fourth grade and older). Their ministry is to assist at the altar during worship services. Currently we have 1 regularly scheduled acolyte at the 8am service, and 1-3 at the 10:15am service. We offer training several times a year, look for more information in the months to come.
The Altar Guild is always eager to welcome persons interested in this service! Our ministry is one of the oldest in the church and is vital to the church's basic function of worship. Our duties include keeping the area from behind the altar rail to the choir clean, setting up for all services, keeping the silver and brass bright and shiny, maintaining the candles, washing and ironing the altar linens, etc. In other words, all the "practical" things that enhance our worship services and make them glorious.
Lay Healers serve at Sunday services. During communion, the Lay Healer offers prayers and the laying on of hands for anyone desiring healing prayers. Part of the healing includes anointing with oil which has been blessed by the Bishop.
Lay Readers are licensed by the diocese, following appropriate training, to read lessons and prayers at worship and to conduct certain services, such as Morning Prayer and Evening Prayer. These regularly scheduled ministers may also be licensed to administer the chalice.
Lay Eucharistic Ministers provide a ministry to the ill or homebound that connects them to the parish congregation by bringing communion directly from the worship services to the person at home, in the hospital or nursing home. This connection of the gathered community in worship to the scattered community at home is an important part of our Pastoral Care Ministry as well as our worship.
Lectors & Petitioners are parishioners who participate in the service by reading one of the scripture lessons (lector), or by leading the intercessory prayers (Petitioners).
Ushers serve at most worship services. They greet people at the door, hand out bulletins, give directions to visitors, bring the elements to the altar, and pass the collection plate. We have 1 regularly scheduled usher at both the 8am and 10:15am services.
